📄️ Intro
A character's Trade is more than just a job title; it encapsulates their distinct profession, class, or archetype. This aspect of character creation is crucial, as it not only defines their specialised skills and abilities but also carves out their unique identity within the game's universe.
📄️ Finger
You’ve learned to read your home, be it the sprawling, high-tech streets and walkways of The Settlement or the battered streets of an above ground enclave, like a well-worn map. Among the sleek neon lit walkways of The Settlement, security are stretched thin, leaving entire sectors practically lawless. Up on the surface, crime flourishes in the shadows, and the looming threats of vicious Storms and breaches make survival a daily gamble.
📄️ Ghost
Adapt or perish, this simple creed defines your every choice. You were trained as a covert operative in the employ of either a powerful corporation or an elite government Spec Ops unit. Sometimes you operated alongside a tightly knit team, other times you were deployed solo to handle objectives as varied as surveillance, sabotage, or extraction. Each assignment demanded new solutions, forcing you to become a versatile asset capable of navigating both high-tech nerve centres and back-alley ruins.
📄️ Greaser
A Greaser is many things rolled into one: mechanic, engineer, fixer, operator, if it can break you can fix it. Whether you’re elbow-deep in the engine of a battered rover or fine-tuning the circuits of a cutting-edge drone, your mechanical genius is invaluable to any team lucky enough to have you. Gear means nothing if it doesn’t work, and you’ve dedicated your life to ensuring that every piece of equipment runs at peak performance. It’s not just about repairs either, you have a knack for pushing machines beyond their design limits, effortlessly adapting to even the most unfamiliar technology.
📄️ Grifter
Nobody understands people like you do. You’ve spent your life mingling with every type, forming contacts, picking up cultural nuances, and uncovering the little tells that reveal what truly makes them tick. You thrive on the con, weaving stories convincing enough to pass off truth for fiction and fiction for fact.
📄️ Hacktivist
In an age where computer systems permeate every aspect of life, the Hacktivist reigns supreme as a digital chameleon. Part of a clandestine network of hackers, they excel at penetrating systems and subverting code, often blurring the lines between legitimate activism, criminal enterprise, and pure mischief.
📄️ Magian
The Magian (also called Magi) is a Weaver, more akin to a classic wizard who is skilled in book learning and research. You see Weaving as a science whilst the less puissant see it as a mystic art. Only you can see its true power and your understanding makes Weaving comes easier for you. You have a voracious need for learning. Either driven by a need to understand, or the lust for greater power.
📄️ Monk
From the moment you enlisted in a militia, you embraced dual roles as soldier and medic, forging deep bonds with fellow recruits through relentless training and harrowing deployments. This sense of teamwork became second nature, and even after leaving formal service, you remained committed to serving others. As a Monk, you see every battle as an opportunity to protect and heal, driven by a steadfast conviction that your skills are best used for saving lives rather than ending them.
📄️ Outlander
Often labelled as an outsider by city dwellers, you’ve spent your entire life in Outlander enclaves and outback communities, far from the comfort and technology of the subterranean cities. Your survival depends on a keen understanding of nature, tracking game, navigating uncharted wilds, and finding shelter in the harshest territories. While many Subbies see your ways as uncivilised, you’ve witnessed wonders they can scarcely imagine. You’ve journeyed to remote places teeming with strange creatures, occasionally venturing into the city to trade before returning to the wilderness you call home.
📄️ Ronin
Once part of a standing militia, you found purpose in serving a cause greater than yourself. Whether driven by ideals, aspirations for a brighter future, or sheer necessity, your reasons for enlistment are etched in the annals of your personal history. Yet, the circumstances surrounding your departure remain a tale untold, reserved for your own introspection.
📄️ Slicer
Perhaps you started as a humble street doc, patching up injuries in makeshift clinics on the fringes of society. Or maybe you were a respected surgeon in The Settlement or employed by a powerful corporation, wielding a scalpel and advanced tech to save lives. In either case, circumstances led you away from your old life; whatever that reason, it was forceful enough to push you beyond familiar walls and into the broader world.
📄️ Tracer
Tracers are professional and, sometimes, semi-professional, non-law enforcement agents. They are tasked with hunting down fugitives. This does not limit them to city bounties but includes any outland community that wants someone hunted. The professional Tracer is equipped with a Warrant Card and normally pays a monthly fee.
📄️ Trigger
As a Trigger, your life revolves around the divide between the quick and the dead. Your Trade has honed you into a deadly instrument of rapid responses and reflexes. This reputation brings with it an aura of fear, keeping law enforcement perpetually wary of your actions.
📄️ Twitch
In the age where AEGIS reigns supreme in the skies, the role of pilots has significantly transformed. They are now rigorously trained in operating a plethora of vehicles, especially exoskeleton suits, known as S.A.B.E.R. (Semi-Autonomous Bionic Enhancement Rig). These pilots, now recognised as elites on the battlefield, use their enhanced strength, agility and ability to carry and use heavier weapons while moving faster across the battlefield.
📄️ Vodouist
The Vodouist, also known as a Voodoo Priest or simply a Priest, is a shamanistic type of Weaver who thrives in the outlands. They understand that Weaving is both a science and an art, deeply connected to the natural world. Vodouists recognize that Weaving, like nature, can be unpredictable and chaotic, but by embracing the chaos, they can tap into incredible power.
